Ghost in my house

did i tell you there{s a ghost in our house? our sisters told us that they have both seen this person dressed in white with long black hair and they are serious as hell! they{ve seen her in the bungalo (the servant house in the back yard) and in the back yard and in the room that i sleep in! somehow they aren{t afraid- i think it{s because ghosts aren{t as big of a deal here, plus they think it{s just their grandma who used to live there until she died. i however sleep next to a window as big as the wall facing said yard, and when i wake up in the night i keep my eyes closed really tightly.ay! i really don{t want to see her! thank goodness i have a roomate who keeps telling me i should be more afraid of the living than the dead. true.....maybe.

First Day of Class

Hola hola

Today I ate eggs with banana in it and it was surprisingly delicious...much better than yesterday´s pig skin in salsa. Anyway, last night we talked with our mother for many hours and I am surprised how much more we understand than the first day. I also watched some Mexican t.v. shows-which were hilarious and very dramatic. They play music in the background the whole time. Cute.

In a few minutes I am off to my first day of the class that I didn{t quite test into, but I don{t have to buy any books for this class so I guess it evens out. A mi.

This weekend we are going to Acapulco and it should be really fun! Anyway, sorry my posts aren{t very organized. I am thinking about a lot of things-like my classes. I just need to have fun in them and I´ll be fine. Ok ok me voy.

I would really like it if you (anyone) would respond to my posts!

estoy en Mexico

Ay perdon, pero no se como hacer los diacriticos en esta computadora. Es diferente que las en los estadosunidos. I am having a great time even though everything right down to the computer keyboards are different! My roomate is a really silly sweet girl from IU named Priscilla. We have a lot of fun messing everything up. I have never felt so stupid in my life. We can barely understand or speak with out mother. She talks really really fast. Our sisters (13 and 14) are really silly and nice too though, and they speak english pretty well and they are patient with our spanish.

I already made my first big American mistake by yelling ¨baja!¨on the bus when the driver was going to stop anyway. Everyone stared at me and they all thought I was super stupid. It didn´t help that Priscilla was laughing so hard she looked boracha. She still laughs about it when she thinks about it. Ah mi.

I just found out that I didn´t test into the class that I need for credit but my teacher is bumping me up because I was very close. I guess with a lot of work I can make some decent grades and hopefully learn a little spanish. I already have learned a lot of new phrases and things:

gatitio-kitty
momentito-one moment (please)
si se puede- ¨it can be done¨ or ¨you can do it!¨
horita-right now
disco-club

Anyway, it´s a start. I really feel like I need to focus more on having fun and learning with my family and new friends than stressing too much about school. It´s kind of a different approach for me but maybe that´s because like pesos seem like pretend money, mexican grades don´t seem real.

I haven´t figured out how to post pictures yet, but I will try to work on that this week. There is a lot to learn in general. ay!
